An attractive mid-18th century Bow porcelain sauceboat of elegant, elongated form, with a pronounced pouring lip, shaped rim and scrolling handle, raised on a spreading oval foot.
The moulded body is decorated in underglaze blue with floral sprays, including a large bouquet of flowers within a rococo scrollwork cartouche to either side. Further scattered flowers, foliage and insects ornament the exterior, with additional floral decoration to the foot and handle. The interior is similarly painted with a large floral bouquet and scattered sprigs, enclosed by a distinctive geometric border of repeating circular motifs around the shaped rim.
A charming example of early English porcelain, combining the elaborate rococo moulding characteristic of Bow production with freely painted blue and white decoration.
Condition: Fritting and small chips around the rim. Larger chip to the spout. Some discolouration around the spout and foot. Please check photos carefully.
