Large fragment of a Roman samian ware bowl, Dragendorff Form 37. Richly decorated scenes between an ovolo and a leafy basal wreath motif. The scenes depicting panels of a geometric floral saltire pattern, statues on plinths, Gladiators fighting bulls and a grass.
Black ink collection number GRA 136 - I've seen other Samian fragment from this collection come up at Bonhams, although the collection name was not noted.

Condition: fragmented and restuck (7 pieces). Surface wear. Please check the photos carefully.
