John Dwight, London Fulham Pottery - Late 17th Century Salt Glazed Bottle
This salt glaze pear shaped stoneware bottle is a truly rare piece that dates back to the late 17th century, 1680-1700. Made by the renowned potter John Dwight at the Fulham Pottery site London.
Its pear shape sets this apart from its German counterparts and adds to its uniqueness and appeal. The bottle salt glazed, dark dipped to the top 2/3rds, the large applied strap handle with its typical lean to the left.
21cm high
Please make sure to check the photos carefully.
Condition: wear to the glaze around the mouth. Some chipping around the foot. Minimal surface wear, with some knocks to the glaze. The handle has been re-stuck - it has been well done and I imagine would be seamless with restoration. The usual firing flaws - contact marks, drips etc. There are firing fractures to either side of the base.
